The Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute, Islamabad, invites applications for the position of Laboratory Technician (BPS-11). Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine laboratory tests and experiments as per research protocols
• Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality
• Collect, process, and analyze biological samples from various agricultural sources
• Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations
• Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, and media according to standardized procedures
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and biosafety guidelines
• Assist senior researchers in conducting experiments and data collection
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and place orders when necessary
• Perform quality control checks on experimental procedures and results
• Support research documentation and report preparation
• Train and supervise junior laboratory staff and interns
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspace
• Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving for experimental challenges
• Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must be Pakistani citizens
• Minimum 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience required
• Age limit: 25-35 years (with standard age relaxation as per government rules)
• Excellent physical health and ability to work in laboratory environment
• Willingness to work flexible hours as per research requirements
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a research team

Required Qualifications

• Degree: B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related biological sciences
• Diploma in Laboratory Technology (preferred but not mandatory)
• Certification in laboratory safety and biosafety procedures
• Computer literacy with MS Office applications
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (pipetting, centrifugation, microscopy)
• Experience with PCR, gel electrophoresis, and other molecular biology techniques
• Knowledge of microbiological culture techniques
• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment
• Understanding of quality control principles
• Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation
